Guidelines for Administering Oil and Gas Activity on State Forest Lands

The Bureau of Forestry (BOF) manages Pennsylvania’s state forests and its many forest resources – plant and animal habitats, recreation, timber, and oil and gas production. Its mission is to ensure the long-term health and productivity of the forest and its resources, and the purpose of this report is to establish a set of guidelines that managers can use to achieve this goal. The report includes recommendations and best management practices for public safety, ecosystem protection, and gas and oil development.
