Working with the Department of Defense: Siting Renewable Energy Development

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Department of Defense (DOD) jointly released this energy siting primer called “Working with the Department of Defense: Siting Renewable Energy Development.” Both groups recognize that large-scale renewable energy projects are often sited on or near land used by the DOD – land that also supports critical natural resources and threatened wildlife. The goal of the primer is to encourage stakeholder collaboration and the development of renewable energy in ways that do not harm the environment or disrupt military practices. (PDF, 717K)
