Mifflin County Pennsylvania Model Wind Ordinance
Submitted by Laura Jackson on 10.21.2014
The Mifflin County Planning Commission adopted a model wind ordinance as part of its comprehensive plan. This ordinance is available as a resource for townships to adopt or modify. Several townships have developed their own ordinance, but some of the townships plan to adopt the model ordinance. The model ordinance establishes setbacks to protect natural areas, IBAs, and residents who would live next to a wind project. Noise restrictions are included in the ordinance to protect residents from infrasound and audible noise, which is harmful to human health.
